Is one of your New Year’s Resolutions to finally get clear skin? Whether dealing with acne or acne scars we’ve got you covered! From back to butt acne, we have some tips and tricks to help you finally get that smooth, poreless and beautiful skin you’ve been striving for. Throughout what has probably been the most unpredictable and inconsistent year of our lifetimes we could use a little bit of consistency which is exactly what your skin could use too!
One of the most important things when dealing with acne-prone skin is keeping a solid and consistent skincare regime. Trying hundreds of skincare products could only irritate your skin more and cause more flare ups, irritation and redness. Your skincare routine should consist of the following 4-steps: cleansing, treatment (only if prescribed to you by your dermatologist), serum/facial oil and moisturizing.
When looking for a face wash it is important to look for a few key words and ingredients. When it comes to acne prone skin you want to avoid harsh chemicals because it will only irritate your skin more and cause even more flare ups. The most important word to look for are cleansers that are non-comedogenic which means it won’t clog your pores. Some other acne clearing, and overall healthy skin ingredients are things like salicylic acid, hyaluronic acid, Vitamin D or Benzoyl peroxide. Natural ingredients such as extracts, aloe, beeswax and coconut oil are also very soothing for your skin because of the all-natural nature of the ingredients. All of these keywords go for back, chest and butt acne too! There are plenty of good acne clearing body washes on the market that include many of these ingredients listed above. CeraVe SA Body Wash for Rough & Bumpy Skin, Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser and Neutrogena Body Clear Acne Treatment Body Wash with Salicylic Acid make great ones just to name a few.
Acne treatments really seal the deal for clean skin. However, with that being said, it is best to see a Dermatologist to get a recommendation and/or prescription to see what treatment works best for you. Curology is also a great alternative if you are unable to see a dermatologist.
Speaking of poor hydration in your skin… another product that can help put some life back into your skin is moisturizer. With all of the treatments and acids being used on your skin, replenishing your skin's moisture is so important. One of our favorite ingredients to use in moisturizer is jojoba seed oil because it is rich in iodine, which helps fight the harmful bacteria that leads to breakouts. You want a moisturizer that will help prevent acne but also do its job to hydrate your skin. The Generation Bee C Infused Facial Moisturizer could not be more perfect for this. Trust us, a little will go a long way and get the job done. Again, with the all-natural makeup of this product, it will never steer you wrong.
The next step is facial oil or serums. This is a product and skincare step that often gets overlooked yet is so important! As a rule, apply the facial oils last because oils can penetrate moisturizers, but not vice versa. This underrated step in your routine delivers a hydrating and rejuvenating boost to your skin. Acne treatments, acne masks and acne cleansers are often extremely effective but usually dry out your skin in the process. Facial oil is the best and easiest way to keep being able to treat your acne but not losing your hydrated, soft skin in the process. With all-natural ingredients such as Almond Oil, Jojoba Seed Oil, Vitamin E Oil and Blue Tansy the Generation Bee Bloom Facial Oil is a fan-favorite for the overall health and elasticity of your skin.
The last thing, which isn’t necessarily a skin regime “step” but should not be forgotten, is removing your makeup! Please (and I cannot stress this enough) take your makeup off before bed! Speaking from personal experience, every time I lazily don’t take all my makeup off before bed, I go the next few days parading the WORST breakouts. With makeup remover you can keep it pretty simple, most makeup removal products on the market work just fine for acne prone skin and for the most part get the job done. However, if you want to guarantee you’re getting everything, the Generation Bee Makeup Remover is the easy to use and melts away every last trace of makeup on your skin. It is gentle on your skin and around your eyes and can take off the most stubborn makeup, yes, even waterproof mascara. The all-natural ingredients clean your face while not stripping it of your natural oils. Then, by splashing warm water on your face you’ll be ready to start with Step 1!
